Two Approaches to the Grand Lesson of 40 Years in Dentistry

The Effective Action Approach

At its heart, this is about an approach and a method to installing and nurturing a growth mindset culture in a practice and using the long-term project of understanding the needs of your patients as a frame for an ongoing discussion and effort to improve.

We feel as though this is the grand lesson of 40 years in the business of dentistry: despite what it looks like, the end goal is not to micromanage every little thing, the end goal is to have everyone on the team understand what the business model is, what their role in that model is, and to actively engage in doing it. Everything else is doing it the hard way.

Plenty of people have had success doing things the hard way, but avoidable suffering is hard to recommend to anyone.

In any case,  the preponderance of the information here pertains to helping you understand how to do that and why it makes sense.

If you’d rather just take the benefit from our learning and apply it to your team, you can do that instead.

In either case, if the discussion about Effective Actions (EAs) seems too abstract, turn to “Sample Effective Actions in Every Role” and then “Effective Action Campaign Templates” to get to the concrete applications.
