It’s given that you will hire the best people possible. It’s also given that the famous 80/20 split is likely to represent the proportion of your star performers, who are internally driven and disciplined, write their own brilliant script, and are motivated by their results, versus the mere mortals who like their job, want to keep it, and so do what is expected out of them but not much else.
You can’t base the success of your practice on 20% of your staff. There’s nothing wrong with everyone else. The 80% “mere mortals” are who your patients are seeing the most. They are the key to well-served patients and a successful, harmonious practice.
So equip your team with expectations, scripting and direction that help them make the most of their time with your patients and each other. Going a little further with your job description goes a long way. That’s the point of how we lay out Team Roles and the format we deliver it in.
